Points system — verified run-by-run against every app
Batting, bowling, fielding, milestones, strike-rate bonuses, economy bonuses. Every rule On the site was cross-checked against the published scoring rules of the 11 apps we cover.
Run, boundary, six, milestones, strike-rate bonus
Batting points are the same across all 11 apps we cover. The strike-rate bonus is the most common source of surprises — and the most common path to a missed 8-12 points.
Batting points
Run × boundary × six × milestone × SR bonus
A 30-ball 40 at SR 133 = 40 + 4 (boundary bonus on 4 fours) + 4 (SR bonus) = 48 points. At SR 120, the same innings = 40 + 4 = 44 points.
| Action | Points | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Run scored | 1 pt / run | Same across all 11 apps |
| Boundary bonus | +4 pts | On top of run value, awarded per boundary |
| Six bonus | +6 pts | On top of run value, awarded per six |
| 30-run milestone | +4 pts | Bonus unlocked at exactly 30 runs |
| Half-century | +8 pts | Includes the 30-run bonus in the total |
| Century | +16 pts | Includes the 50-run bonus in the total |
| Dismissal for duck (batter) | -2 pts | Top-order / middle-order only — wicket-keeper ducks are exempt on most apps |
| Strike rate ≥130 (min 10 balls) | +4 pts | App-specific threshold — Dream11 uses 130, MPL uses 140 |
| Strike rate ≥170 (min 10 balls) | +8 pts | App-specific threshold — Dream11 uses 170, MPL uses 180 |
Wicket, LBW / bowled bonus, maiden, dot ball, economy bonus
Bowling points reward wicket-taking and economy. The LBW / bowled bonus is the most app-specific — some apps give +8, others give +0 on top of the standard wicket points.
Bowling points
Wicket × LBW × maiden × dot × economy
A 4-over spell of 3/22 with 2 maidens = 75 (wickets) + 8 (maiden) + 4 (economy bonus) = 87 points. As captain that is 174 points.
| Action | Points | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Wicket | 25 pts | Same across all 11 apps |
| LBW / bowled bonus | +8 pts (some apps +0) | App-specific — verify before lock-in |
| Maiden over | +4 pts (some apps +8) | App-specific |
| Dot ball bonus | +1 pt | Some apps only count dots in middle overs (7-15) |
| Economy ≤7 (min 2 overs) | +4 pts | App-specific threshold |
| Economy ≤5 (min 2 overs) | +8 pts | App-specific threshold |
| 4-wicket haul | +4 pts | Bonus on top of standard wicket points |
| 5-wicket haul | +8 pts | Bonus on top of standard wicket points |
Catch, stumping, run-out
Fielding points are the same across all 11 apps. Catches are 8 points; stumpings are 12 points; direct run-outs are 12 points; thrower / catcher run-outs split 6 / 6.
Captain × 2x, vice-captain × 1.5x, impact player (app-specific)
Captain is the most leveraged decision — 2x points on every action, including milestones, strike-rate bonuses, and economy bonuses. Vice-captain is 1.5x. Some apps also have an impact-player multiplier (typically 1.25x).
Multipliers
Captain 2x · VC 1.5x · Impact 1.25x
Captain applies to the total fantasy points scored — milestones, SR bonuses, economy bonuses all count. Impact player is app-specific and only available on some contests.
Captain 2x
On every action. A 12-point player becomes 24 as captain. The captain-vice-captain page has the decision tree.
Vice-captain 1.5x
On every action. A 14-point player becomes 21 as VC. Pick VC independently from captain.
Impact player 1.25x
App-specific. Available on some contests. The impact player replaces one XI player after the first innings; the 1.25x applies to that player's points.
The 6 rules that vary across apps
Most rules are identical. The 6 below are the ones that differ — and the differences compound across a 70-match season.
LBW / bowled bonus
Some apps award +8 pts for an LBW or bowled dismissal on top of the standard 25 wicket points. Other apps do not. Verify your app before lock-in.
Maiden over value
Most apps award +4 pts per maiden. Some apps award +8. The maiden bonus matters more on helpful wickets (Mohali, Lucknow).
Strike-rate thresholds
Most apps use SR 130 and 170 for the batting bonuses. Some apps use 140 and 180. The threshold affects whether your batter's innings unlocks the bonus.
Dot ball scope
Some apps count every dot ball across the innings. Some apps only count dots in the middle overs (7-15). The latter rewards middle-overs control more heavily.
Worked examples for every role
The points system is most useful when you can apply it to specific innings and spells. Below are 4 worked examples covering each role.
Example 1 — Top-order batter 50-ball 72 with 6 fours and 3 sixes: Run layer (72) + boundary bonus (6 × 4 = 24) + six bonus (3 × 6 = 18) + 50-run milestone (8) + strike-rate bonus (72 / 50 × 100 = 144, +4 at SR 130+) = 126 fantasy points. As captain: 252 points.
Example 2 — Strike bowler 4 overs / 3 wickets / 28 runs / 1 maiden: Wicket layer (3 × 25 = 75) + maiden over (+4) + economy bonus (ER = 7.0, +4 at ER ≤ 7) = 83 points. As captain: 166 points.
Example 3 — All-rounder 30-ball 35 + 3 overs / 2 wickets / 22 runs: Run layer (35 + 4 + 4 = 43) + wicket layer (50) + economy bonus (ER = 7.33, no bonus) = 93 points. As captain: 186 points.
Example 4 — Wicket-keeper 25-ball 18 + 3 catches + 1 stumping: Run layer (18) + fielding layer (24 + 12 = 36) = 54 points. As captain: 108 points.

Beyond the formula
The points system formula is the basics. The 3 advanced calculations below are what experienced players use to spot under-priced and over-priced players.
Calculation 1 — Expected fantasy points (EFP). EFP = (form index × venue adjustment × opposition adjustment × toss adjustment). A 25-point form index at Wankhede against a weak top-order with field-first toss = 25 × 1.15 × 1.10 × 1.05 = 33.2 EFP. This is the captain candidate.
Calculation 2 — Points per credit (PPC). PPC = EFP / salary. A 9-credit all-rounder with 28 EFP has a PPC of 3.11. A 11-credit anchor with 30 EFP has a PPC of 2.73. The all-rounder is the better value pick.
Calculation 3 — Captain value score (CVS). CVS = (EFP × 2) / salary. The captain doubles the EFP. A 9-credit all-rounder as captain has CVS = 56 / 9 = 6.22. An 11-credit anchor as captain has CVS = 60 / 11 = 5.45. The all-rounder as captain is the higher-value pick.
Applying the calculations — Use EFP to identify captain candidates. Use PPC to build the XI within the 100-credit budget. Use CVS to identify the highest-value captain pick. The three calculations together produce the optimal XI.
The bonuses that swing contests
Strike-rate and economy bonuses are the most app-specific scoring rules — and the most common source of point mismatches. Below is the deep dive.
Strike rate bonus — awarded on a minimum of 10 balls faced. Most apps award +4 at SR 130+ and +8 at SR 170+. The thresholds vary — MPL uses 140/180. The bonus is on top of the run total, not a replacement. A 30-ball 40 at SR 133 = 40 + 4 = 44 points (not 40).
Economy bonus — awarded on a minimum of 2 overs bowled. Most apps award +4 at ER ≤ 7 and +8 at ER ≤ 5. The thresholds vary — some apps use ER ≤ 6 and ER ≤ 4.5. The bonus is on top of the wicket total.
Strike rate vs economy trade-off — a strike-rate bowler at the death (ER 8+) foregoes the economy bonus but picks up the wicket bonus. A strike batter at the death (SR 150+) picks up the strike-rate bonus and the boundary bonus. The trade-off depends on the venue.
When the bonuses matter most — In low-scoring matches (chase target below 150), the bonuses matter less because the absolute totals are lower. In high-scoring matches (chase target above 180), the bonuses matter more because the SR and ER thresholds are hit more often.
App-by-app variance — The strike-rate and economy bonuses are the most app-specific rules in the scoring system. The 6-rule difference table earlier has the full breakdown.
Points system reader questions
Are the points the same on every app?
Most rules are identical. The 6 differences above are the ones to verify on your specific app before lock-in. The points-system-explained page has the per-app breakdown.
Do milestone bonuses stack?
No. The 30-run milestone is included in the 50-run milestone, which is included in the 100-run milestone. You get the highest applicable bonus, not all three.
Does the captain multiplier apply to bonuses?
Yes. Captain applies to the total fantasy points scored — including milestone bonuses, SR bonuses, economy bonuses, and fielding points.
What happens if my captain doesn't play?
Most apps reduce your XI to 11 active players and re-distribute the captaincy to the highest-owned XI player. The captain × 2x is preserved on the new captain. Check your app's rules.
Do fielding points count for substitute fielders?
Yes. Substitute fielders earn catch and run-out points on most apps. The substitute fielder is credited with the fielding action.
How are points calculated for the impact player?
Impact player points are calculated the same way as XI players. Some apps apply a 1.25x multiplier to the impact player's total. The impact-player-rule page has the per-app breakdown.
The math behind every fantasy point
The fantasy cricket scoring formula is a layered calculation. Each layer is independent — a six updates the run total, the six bonus, and the strike-rate bonus in the same tick.
The full formula, layer by layer:
| Layer | Calculation | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Run layer | 1 pt per run + boundary bonus + six bonus | A 30-ball 40 with 4 fours and 2 sixes = 40 + 16 + 12 = 68 points |
| Milestone layer | +4 at 30, +8 at 50, +16 at 100 (highest applicable only) | A 50-run innings = 50 + 8 = 58 milestone points |
| Strike-rate layer | +4 at SR ≥ 130, +8 at SR ≥ 170 (min 10 balls) | A 30-ball 40 at SR 133 = +4 points |
| Wicket layer | 25 + LBW bonus (if applicable) + 4-wicket bonus + 5-wicket bonus | A 4-wicket haul = 100 + 4 = 104 wicket points |
| Economy layer | +4 at ER ≤ 7, +8 at ER ≤ 5 (min 2 overs) | A 4-over spell at ER 6.0 = +4 points |
| Fielding layer | 8 catch, 12 stumping, 12 direct run-out, 6/6 thrower/catcher split | 3 catches + 1 stumping = 24 + 12 = 36 fielding points |
| Multiplier layer | Captain × 2, VC × 1.5, impact × 1.25 (app-specific) | A 70-point player as captain = 140 points |
How to value a player based on scoring
The 5-step framework below values a player based on the points system, not on the salary cap. Use it to spot under-priced and over-priced players in the auction:
Pull the cross-format fantasy points
Take the player's average fantasy points per match across T20s, ODIs, and Tests. The cross-format coefficient identifies consistent performers.
Adjust for role
Top-order batters and strike bowlers have higher ceilings (50+ points) but lower floors (5-10 points). Middle-order batters and middle-overs bowlers have lower ceilings (25-30) but higher floors (12-18).
Apply the venue adjustment
Players at Wankhede and Chinnaswamy gain 12-15% on cross-format averages. Players at Mohali gain 6-10% if they are spinners.
Calculate the value-per-credit
Divide the expected fantasy points by the salary cost. A 9-credit all-rounder with 25 expected points has a 2.78 ratio; a 11-credit anchor with 22 expected points has a 2.0 ratio.
Final value score
The 9-credit all-rounder is the better value pick, even though the 11-credit anchor scores more total points. Apply across your XI to find the budget allocation.
